KNOXVILLE, Tenn. –Bailey International LLC, a leading mobile hydraulic product manufacturer and distributor, has released a new line of Chief TCR re-phasing hydraulic cylinders that are engineered to be a high quality, but value-priced, solution for original equipment manufacturers.
Bailey International Acquires Sure Grip Controls
Re-phasing cylinders can be used in many OEM applications, including agricultural applications such as seeding, tilling, fertilization, and harvesting where synchronization is needed to lift separate loads. “Using only one power source and controlling mechanism, Chief TCR re-phasing cylinders will lift separate loads in synchronization without the use of flow dividers, creating cost and time savings,” reports Blake Moore, Bailey’s Vice President of Sales, Marketing, and Service. “We are excited to offer the TCR in a variety of standard sizes, as well as custom sizes if needed.”
Utilizing a third party logistics provider (3PL), Bailey will be able to provide cost-savings to over 4,400 current Western customers and over 25,000 potential customers. “As a business, you are always looking for ways to grow both organically and acquisitively,” reports Bailey Chief Financial Officer, Steve Boyack. “I think that using a 3PL is a hybrid of both. We are not acquiring, but we are able to better support our current customers and gaining a whole new customer footprint simply because we have a new logistics provider on the West Coast.”
RENO, NV --- On July 1, 2013, Bailey International LLC, a leading mobile hydraulic product manufacturer and wholesale distributor located in Knoxville, TN, is expanding its distribution network west to support the growing number of Western mobile hydraulic equipment manufacturers, distributors and repair-shops.

Here’s how re-phasing process works:
Using a group of hydraulic cylinders connected in series, the hydraulic fluid is fed into the extend port of the master cylinder from the fluid power source. As the master cylinder’s rod extends, fluid is pushed out from the cylinder’s retract port into the extend port of the next slave cylinder in the series, creating motion in that cylinder.
“To achieve synchronization between the cylinders’ extension and retraction, it is critical that the volume of fluid that can be pushed from the master cylinder matches the volume that is received into a slave cylinder,” explains Casey Coykendall, Bailey’s Director of Engineering. “The volume differences between the cylinders do not match perfectly so there is always a slight variance between the different size cylinders. That is why a bypass port is added to the cylinder, allowing it to fully stroke before starting retraction or extension.”
In order to determine the appropriate cylinders for a re-phasing application, the following information is needed: number of loads to be moved, approximate weight of each load, stroke and retract length, as well as other factors like flow, application, and operating conditions. This information is used to determine the system’s pressure limitations and therefore the correct cylinder sizes needed to operate the equipment. Bailey invites you to consulting one of its hydraulic cylinder specialists at 1-800-800-1820 (option 2) for assistance when selecting or utilizing re-phasing cylinders.
Reno provides a strategic, logistical advantage for both Bailey and its customers by offering substantial time-savings. “If a customer calls an order in by 3 PM (PST), we will ship that order the same day,” explains Chief Executive Officer, Kevin Bailey. “With the proximity of the Reno location to the West Coast, most every customer on the West Coast will receive that order through standard shipping methods in just 1 or 2 business days, which is just a phenomenal improvement from currently shipping from Knoxville to the West Coast.” Time-savings can reduce both manufacturing lead times and down-time, which, in turn, improves the value proposition of Bailey’s products.
Substantial cost-savings will also be a benefit from Reno fulfillment. “Customers in the Western 11 states can save as much as 50% in freight cost by having their orders shipped from Reno verses Knoxville,” says Bailey. “Since freight comes right off your P&L, if our customer now saves $500 in freight costs, then they just improved their profitability by $500.” This profitability can translate into businesses enjoying higher margins or more competitive prices.
Over the next few weeks, Bailey will send more than 50,000 products to the Reno location, including all of the most popular cylinders, valves, pumps, motors, power units, bearings and fluid conditioning products. More than 1,500 skus will be available for purchase from the Reno location. The West Coast location will begin shipping on July 1, 2013. Bailey will extend its service hours to 6 PM (PST) starting on June 24, 2013.
